A fitted sheet has elasticated edges that hold it around a mattress, while a flat sheet is a simple rectangular sheet that lies over the bed and can be tucked around the mattress. Both are useful, but they serve different purposes.
A fitted sheet is shaped to sit directly over the mattress. Elastic around the sheet helps it stay in position and creates a neater, more secure fit. The most important measurements are the mattress length, width and depth, because the sheet needs to fit around all three.
See Nylsa’s current Fitted Sheets and check the exact dimensions listed on each product before choosing a size.
A flat sheet does not have fitted corners. It can be spread over the mattress, tucked underneath it or used as part of a layered bedding arrangement. Because it is not shaped around the mattress, its dimensions and intended use should be checked carefully before purchase.
Nylsa’s Sheet Sets include different bedding options, with the exact contents and dimensions stated on the individual product pages.
A correctly sized fitted sheet generally stays in place more securely because its elasticated edges grip the mattress. A flat sheet can also be tucked neatly, but the result depends on the sheet dimensions, mattress size and how it is arranged.
Choose a fitted sheet when you want a close fit around the mattress and easy everyday bed making. Choose a flat sheet when you prefer a traditional sheet that can be tucked, layered or arranged more freely.
Some customers use both: a fitted sheet directly on the mattress and a flat sheet as an additional layer. The right setup depends on your bedding preference.
Do not rely on the words Single, Double, Queen or King alone, because measurements can differ between products and mattresses. The listed dimensions are the best reference.
